Former MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden has taken his first victory in the WSBK series, as rain hampered the Sepang International Circuit.

Hayden last won a race back in 2006, his MotoGP championship winning year and he did so in style today. Leading the way for the whole 16 lap race, the Honda rider made it the Japanese Factories first victory since 2014.

Italian Davide Guigliano stood on the second step of the podium and came close to being locked in a fight with Hayden for the victory as he chased him down on his Aruba.IT Ducati, finishing just a second behind Hayden as they crossed the line.

Reigning World Champion Jonathan Rea took third and as now increased his championship lead to 42 points ahead of Chaz Davies, who narrowly missed out on a podium finishing position to take fourth, slipping down from second.

Anthony West took fifth position, as he continues to have strong pace in the wet ahead of Michael van der Mark on his Honda. Alex de Angelis took seventh ahead of race one winner Tom Sykes.
