Chaz Davies has secured the double victory at the Italian circuit of Imola, dominating race two on his Aruba.it Racing Ducati.
Getting another strong start off the line, it looked as if Davies was to be challenged by his team-mate Davide Guigliano in the opening corners, however the Welshman had already eeked a gap out by the third corner.
Kawasaki Racing team-mates Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes were once again battling for podium positions and looked to be staying up with Davies as the two were locked in a battle.
However with 13 laps remaining, Davies was over four seconds ahead of his championship rivals and left the two behind, as Sykes struggled to get into second feeling uncomfortable with the rear of his ZX-10R.
Brits Leon Camier and Alex Lowes were locked in a battle to secure a top five finish, as Lowes is the loan Pata Yamaha rider with Sylvain Guintoli out of the weekend, fracturing his ankle in Superpole on Saturday.
Sykes didn’t give up however as he began to set the fastest times in the final laps of the race as he hunted his team-mate down for second.
Having never led a lap around the iconic circuit until this weekend, Davies crossed the line with a four second lead ahead of Rea and Sykes.
Italian Davide Guiglano took a fourth position aboard his Ducati, ahead of MV Augusta’s Leon Camier in fifth.
