World Championship leader Sylvain Guintoli is feeling positive following two podiums at Donington Park and hopes to pull an advantage on his four point championship lead. As he heads to the Portugese round of the championship, he anticipates being able to use the full power of the RSV4 Aprilia.
The Frenchman commented: “Portimao is a beautiful track and one of my favourites. After being back on the podiums in Donington, I am looking forward to be able to use the strength of the RSV4 factory on a wider and bigger track”.
Eugene Laverty has similar feelings ahead of the round after a mixed weekend at Donington Park, despite securing a podium in race two he could only finish in the top seven in race one. The 27 year old is in third position in the championship standings after bagging three race victories so far this season; he lies 24 points behind Guintoli in first.
Laverty said: “Portimao is perhaps my favourite circuit on the calendar and so I’m looking forward it. We’ve had a really strong season so far and I’ll be aiming for another victory this weekend. It will be important to finish on the podium in both races as my title rivals are very consistent”.
