Rossi: "We will try to do everything to get the best result"

Nine times world champion Valentino Rossi heads to his home race of Mugello this weekend, for the fifth round of the MotoGP World Championship with high hopes in the rolling Tuscan hills.

Rossi is happy to return to Mugello

The Yamaha Factory Racing team rider has won nine races at the Italian circuit; including a record of 7 consecutive wins in the premier class. However he has only finished one race out of four on the podium so far in 2013. Rossi currently lies in 5th position in the championship standings, 36 points behind leader Dani Pedrosa.

After storming to a podium at round one in Qatar, the 34 year old hasn’t been able to emulate this success in the following races. The Italian struggled to find the right set-up for his M1 in the inaugural Austin race, and has since been lacking the pace to be up with the front group. A crash in a wet Le Mans two weeks ago pushed him down into 12th position, making this is worst result since Laguna Seca last season.

Rossi is feeling positive ahead of his homecoming “I am very happy that we go to Mugello. I love this track and I’m really happy to go back there with Yamaha. This is a track that I really like and a good result is important. Unfortunately we are still not fast enough so we need to improve, especially in dry conditions. We must work hard and improve the bike. The Mugello race will be difficult, but we will try to do everything to get the best result. A podium would be really nice. I believe that there will be many people at Mugello so I’m happy and the heat in Mugello is always good!”
