Aprilia Racing Team head to Donington Park this weekend for round five of the World Superbike Championship in a bouyant mood after a successful home round at Monza and with its riders occupying first and second in the championship standings.

Northern Irishman Eugene Laverty arrives at Donington Park fresh from a podium and a second place at Monza two weeks ago and is determined to repeat the successes at the Northern Irishmans closest track to home. Laverty occupies a strong second place in the title race just 13 points adrift of his locally resident team mate Guintoli, although according to Laverty himself he’s not had the best of times at the Leicestershire circuit.
He said “Donington has never been kind to me in the past so I’ll be hoping that changes this weekend. We’ve had a great run of form lately and I want to continue our podium streak. Donington couldn’t be more different to the previous circuit of Monza and we’ll need to work to control the power of the RSV4. Seven riders on five different makes of machinery could win this weekend so it’s going to be a tough fight”
There is also the fact that the event is held over a British Bank Holiday weekend and traditionally the weather is a big talking point with Monday being a public holiday; no doubt there will be more than just the odd cursory glance skywards as the weekend progresses and many hoping the conditions remain favourable and not be subjected to the ‘traditional’ Bank Holiday Weather.
