‘Welcome to Motopod, the internet radio show all about motorcycle road racing…’ is the opening line in every episode of the popular podcast that is Motopod, and a fitting way to begin this introduction to quite possibly the most popular weekly motorcycle racing podcast available.
Motopod has grown massively over the last few years with more and more devices to download and listen on, but not only that, more importantly the content and quality from hosts Jim Race, Jules Cisek and Martin Darlington gets better and better too. This last month alone we’ve heard from Cal Crutchlow, Nicky Hayden, Bradley Smith, Colin Edwards, Scott Redding, Michael Laverty and Lucio Cecchinello direct from Austin, Texas as well as Leon Haslam, James Whitham, Sylvain Guintoli, freelance TV producer and Eurosport WSB pit lane man Charlie Hiscott, MarcVDS crew chief Pete Benson and official MotoGP Statistician Dr Martin Raines, a full cross-section of the people involved with motorcycle racing in its various forms.
As well as interviews, the hosts review the previous weeks events in MotoGP, WSB, BSB and Road Racing with in-depth analysis and not to mention the odd outbreak of humour and mirth. The podcasts are understandably long, they have to be and sometimes the longer the better, but listeners are encouraged to get in touch with opinion, questions and sometimes advice but in all it is like listening in to a pub chat between friends, knowledgeble friends.
PaddockChatter retweets the latest Podcast every week but to get properly involved go to the website
and join the debate. When PaddockChatter got in touch with Jim Race for his input in to the article, he sent an email back with his thoughts so it’s only right that after MotoPod’s words opened the piece, they close it too…
“MotoPod, The Motorcycle Roadracing Podcast, is an internet radio show dedicated to MotoGP and motorcycle road racing news, interviews, commentary, opinion and rumor! MotoPod’s primary focus is MotoGP, the premier class of the FIM World Championship , but they have common sidetrips into the world of FIM World Superbike, Supersport. BSB, AMA, the IoMTT and other Real Roads Racing and many other forms of two wheeled motorsport.”
Helmed by Jim Race, an SQA Engineer by trade and road racing fanatic every other moment. Took a shot at racing himself in 1999 and sucked but he has a knack at talking about it with regular hosts Jules Cisek, a Software Engineeer by trade as well as Ducatisti and Vespa nutjob, brilliant Producer and sarcastic co-host, part of the glue of the show and finally Martin Darlington, fan of the show, recruited as a brilliant co-host, Wales Air Ambulance pilot, Jorge fanboi-extraordinaire and all-around wanker rounds out the regular crew. The show has grown since 2005 into a dynamo that dives into the paddock worldwide with guest hosts from across the globe.
Phill Hall, Goncalo Silva and Len Padilla cover other rounds the continental based lads can’t attend and fill in the blanks admirably.
