Pramac Racing’s Andrea Iannone is to undergo surgery on his right arm following advice from Dr Costa this week, after suffering from arm-pump.

Arm-pump is common amongst motorbike races, it gives you a loss of feeling and strength in your forearm after riding for an extended period of time. The 23 year old will  have an operation in an attempt to cure this problem on Tuesday (7th May). He will then begin rehabilitation to be ready for the next round at Le Mans in two weeks time.

The Italian crashed out of the third round of the season at Jerez this afternoon on lap 4 of 27, completing a disasterous weekend for the Pramac Ducati team. Iannone made it into Q2 on Saturday afternoon and started the race from 11th position, the lone Pramac rider on the grid.

Round three of the MotoGP world championship at Jerez scored no points for the ‘junior’ Ducati team, with Ben Spies sitting out of the race weekend following medical advice on a shoulder injury sustained in Sepang last year.
