BSB: Lowes finishes on top but ‘still got work to do’

Lowes started as he means to go on at Oulton

Samsung Honda rider Alex Lowes has finished day one at the top of the timing sheets at Oulton Park, ahead of the race this bank holiday Monday.

Lowes set a time of 1.36.547 in the dry FP2 this afternoon, which put him 0.053 seconds ahead of reigning world champion Shane Byrne. The Lincolnshire rider made up for loss of track time following a wet FP1, and held a flying Byrne and Brookes off to claim the top spot.

Lowes said “I’m quite happy so far as we’ve done a lot in the one session after rain cost us track time earlier but the bike is feeling good. We’ve got a lot of work still to do; Shakey has tested here and this is the first time I’ve ridden Oulton Park since last year so I’m feeling good and looking forward to the races. I hope to give him something to think about on Monday in the races.”
