The plague of bad luck facing Ben Spies continues as it has been announced he is to miss the Spanish Grand
Prix at Jerez next weekend due to being unfit to race.
Spies, who only managed 13th place in his home race at Austin last weekend visited the clinica mobile after experiencing chest pain during the warm up session – it is thought he tweaked a nerve in his chest whilst over-compensating for the shoulder injury he sustained at Sepang last year ruling him out of the last race of the season at Valencia. Medical staff have since advised Spies to take three weeks rehabilitation suggesting he will make his return at Le Mans.
The MotoGP twitter feed originally announced Ducati test rider Michele Pirro as the replacement for Spies – however it has since been deleted. Pirro is already entered for Jerez as a Ducati wildcard. MotoGP.com is now reporting that the team have yet to announce a replacement rider, therefore we expect an announcement in due course.
