|Tom Sykes is back to full fitness for Aragon
Tom Sykes has proved he is fighting fit for the second race of the World Superbike season at Aragon next weekend in a test ahead of the return to action.
Sykes set a time of 1.57.2 over the three day test, where he was working on engine improvements and new components for the chassis. The 27 year old put in a lot of laps to determine his levels of fitness after breaking his left wrist and three ribs just before the opening round of the season at Philip Island, Australia in February.
Sykes said “I think that my wrist is about 80% and my ribs 98% back to normal, so that was good. I was able to ride the bike again without too many limitations. We had some rain in the final afternoon but we had already finished just about everything we had wanted to do at the end of the second day. We were going to do a couple of long runs on two different settings today but the rain interrupted that. We have put a lot of laps on our tyres here and we still have all of race weekend to check out the final tyre situation for raceday. This test has also brought us some benefits in performance.”
Kawasaki teammate Loris Baz was also present at the test, made improvements with the front suspension on his ZX-10R and hopes to improve the rear throughout the race weekend.
