Italian Luca Scassa will join the Czech Intermoto outfit for the 2013 World Supersport season. Scassa, who rode in British Superbikes for 2012 having a somewhat unsuccessful season despite showing flashes of speed at times had been linked to a return to the World Supersport field on an MV Augusta F3 with former team ParkinGO however this deal failed to materialise. Rumours had placed Scassa to continue with Padgetts in the British Superbike championship however it appears the 29 year opted to return to the 600 world series in which he has won 3 races.
Intermoto (the team who took Brit, Gino Rea to race wins) switched to Kawasaki for the 2012 season and successfully campaigned Fabien Foret to two race wins and third in the championship earning the veteran a seat in the factory Kawasaki team Mahi Racing for 2013. Intermoto announced back in December that they would be running the 2011 supersport championship runner up, David Salom for 2013 – Salom tested for the team last week in Jerez placing 10th.
Scassa and Salom are no strangers to each other or Kawasaki machinery, the pair were team mates at Perdecini Kawaski in the World Superbike championship for 2009. World Supersport looks to be an incredible season for 2013, Scassa and Salom are more big names added to the grid already containing the likes of Sam Lowes, Kenan Sofuoglu and Fabien Foret with a host of other riders with huge potential also searching for success.
