|Giugliano impressed on the 1198 in 2012

Althea Racing are to run Davide Giugliano on an RSV4 in 2013. The team, who won a world championship with Carlos Checa in 2011 have run Ducatis since 2010, being the main, factory-supported Ducati team for the last two years following the departure of Xerox Ducati. However, earlier in the month it was announced that Althea had split with Ducati due to not being able to come to an agreement for 2013. It has since been announced that Francis Batta’s Alstare squad will be the official Ducati representatives.
Checa, who was under contract to Ducati not Althea has had to jump ship to Alstare and is joined by Ayrton Badovini. However, 2011 Superstock 1000 Champion Davide Giugliano was contracted to Althea for another year. Althea considered their options for 2013, including the possibility of joining MotoGP’s CRT class however have opted for the Aprilia route instead.
Giugliano impressed on the 1198 in his debut year in World Superbikes, achieving several podiums. Althea will be the fourth RSV4 on the grid in 2013, alongside factory riders Eugene Laverty and Sylvain Guintoli and Red Devils Roma, Michel Fabrizio.
