|Hickman on board the Buildbase BMW he campaigned for
the second half of 2012

Leeds based rider Peter Hickman has signed for Mark Smith-Halvorsen’s GBMoto squad in British Superbikes. It was revealed on Monday at Motorcycle Live that Hickman will ride the teams CBR1000 Fireblades alongside a yet-to-be-confirmed team mate.
GBMoto had a difficult year in 2012 with Tristan Palmer and Luke Quigley however managed to achieve a large number of points finishes with a best result of 12th. However, GBMoto plan to up their game in 2013 with Hickman, aiming to be chasing the podium and fighting for one of the top 6 showdown places.
Hickman started 2012 with MSS Kawasaki before being sacked after taking an opportunity-of-a-lifetime wildcard in World Superbikes replacing the injured John Hopkins at Crescent Suzuki for the Donington round. Hickman impressed and wasn’t far off the pace from the first session and walked away from the weekend with a solid top 10 result. He spent the rest of the BSB season with Stuart Hicken’s Buildbase BMW squad scoring a best result of 7th after being plagued with bad starts. Hickman, who impressed when he last rode a Honda for Quay Garage, achieving a best result of 2nd at Thruxton.
